LONDON Apr. 1 – The 22nd Ischia Global Film & Music Festival (July 7-14), will be dedicated to legendary producer Marina Cicogna. The festival’s founder and producer Pascal Vicedomini gave the announcement in London (along with the event’s Chairman Jim Sheridan and other influential figures in the entertainment industry), remembering the late friend and co-founder of the most anticipated film and music event of the summer.
“Marina Cicogna was for me and my friends and founders of Ischia Global a continuous source of inspiration and a constant point of reference to consolidate the myth of the green island and its connection with cinema, since young Marina used to hang out a lot around Lacco Ameno together with her friend Liuba Rizzoli and especially the commendatore Angelo Rizzoli, pioneer of Ischia and its tourist vocation, “ said Vicedomini recalling the early days of the happening together with Tony Renis, Franco Nero and Giancarlo Carriero, patron of the Regina Isabella Resort, headquarters of the Festival.
Sponsored with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Campania region, the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival has been gathering the most positive feedback from players in the audiovisual and film industry since 2003, making it the venue for a true informal marketplace of ideas, co-productions and international co-distributions. “We will dedicate to Marina Cicogna one of the Festival’s top prizes to be awarded annually to a woman in world cinema whose talent and personality can be seen through her work,” said Irish director Jim Sheridan, whose first presence on the Green Isle dates back to 2009 when he was honored along with Bud Spencer.
World Premiere and film retrospectives, conventions, lectures, masterclasses for actors, award ceremonies and gala evenings in the most characteristic locations on the island: this is the structure of the 2024 Ischia Global Film & Music Festival, which will be officially presented at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival by Sheridan and honorary chairwoman Trudie Styler.
