Peppe Barra was honoured with The “Ischia Award for Lifetime Achievement” at the Pineta Nenzi Bozzi yesterday night.
Giuseppe Barra, known as Peppe Barra, is an Italian singer and theatre actor. Born in Rome in 1944, he spent part of his childhood in Procida and later moved to Naples. He was a member of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare (NCCP) and has acted in plays, films and television programmes. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including the IDI Saint Vincent prize as an actor and the Tenco Targa as best performer. In 2006, he was honoured with the Lunezia Etno-Music Prize for the musical and literary quality of his career. Recently, he celebrated his 80th birthday with a special evening in Naples, where he was praised for his contribution to culture and art.
