EMIR KUSTURICA FETED WITH THE “ISCHIA LUCHINO VISCONTI AWARD”

Emir Kusturica, the acclaimed filmmaker and musician known for his distinctive cinematic style and deep cultural impact, received the prestigious “Ischia Luchino Visconti Award” at the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival. Born in Sarajevo in 1954, Kusturica had garnered international acclaim for films that blend magical realism with Balkan folklore, earning two Palme d’Ors at Cannes for “When Father Was Away on Business” (1985) and “Underground” (1995). His contributions extend beyond cinema, notably leading “The No Smoking Orchestra.” The award celebrates his role in global cinema and cultural dialogue.

The Ischia Global Film & Music Festival, produced and founded by Pascal Vicedomini, and chaired by Jim Sheridan is made with the support of MiC’s DG Cinema and Audiovisual and the Campania Region. The Accademia Internazionale Arte Ischia and SiaeRiflessi-Made In ItalyGivovaRainbow and Vulcano Buono promote the event.
